String Trio no. 2, 1959.
The Second String Trio is written entirely in serial technique. Throughout this composition Palester applied a single series copied from a piece called Study 58 that he wrote a year before for chamber orchestra. Again however, he displays his attachment to tradition by using a classical form. The piece consists of four movements: Allegretto flessibile e grazioso, Lento, Vivace, agitato and Lento misterioso.
The world premiere of the Second String Trio took place in Paris on 12 November 1961.
